Madeline Montgomery, originally from Kansas, got her early training at Artistree Performing Arts, where she studied various genres of dance under former Radio City Rockette Elizabeth Andrews and Mara Klenda. She then studied at Kansas City Ballet under Grace Holmes, Rachel Nye, Sean Duus, Kimberly Cowen, David Justin, and Dmitry Trubchanov. In high school she was a member of the Kansas City Youth Ballet performing in ballets such as Giselle, Coppelia, and Raymonda. In addition to performing with Kansas City Ballet she has performed in the corps with Dayton Ballet. She earned her BFA in Ballet from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied primarily under Dierdre Carberry of American Ballet Theatre and Jieng Qi of Ballet West. She performed in classical works including Dayton Ballet’s staging of Cinderella, Le Corsaire, La Bayadere, and a Demi soloist role in Paquita, as well as a soloist role in “Falling Upwards”, a modern piece by Shauna Steele and a soloist in “Handel Concerto” by John Bell. She was also in Serenade, set by Joysanne Sidimus of the Balanchine Trust. In addition to ballet and modern at CCM, she studied jazz, contemporary, choreography, character, and completed the STOTT Pilates Certification course. She has received additional training at Cincinnati Ballet, New York Dance Project, Colorado Ballet, Kaatsbaan, American Ballet Theater, City Ballet of San Diego, Oklahoma City Ballet, and Stage International de Danse in Arcachon, France. She is thrilled to be joining VNB as an apprentice in the 2022-23 season!
