Gainesville Ballet has announced the 2016-17 Season!  You can view it on the EVENTS page or Company, Performances page.  Look for an exciting Press Release to be announced within days with major announcements about Gainesville Ballet!  Also, Gainesville Ballet is thankful to be supported in part for 2016-17 by Prince William County, NOVEC, and The Dominion Foundation.

Gainesville Ballet is having a great 2015-16 season!  The Nutcracker in November with ABT Stars Isabella Boylston & James Whiteside was a big success.  The world premieres of Collection and Carmen thrilled packed audiences at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.  Upcoming performances include Giselle at the Ernst Cultural Center Theater in Annandal, and our Spring Performance in June at the Hylton Center.  Students have been accepted to ABT and Richmond Ballet summer intensives with scholarship, won High Gold at the Turn it Up Dance Challenge, and vocal students won 3rd place and Honors at the NATS VA State Competition.

Congratulations to Jake Miller, voice student of Director Elysabeth Muscat Hegab, for being cast in the title role of Oliver at Arena Stage in Washington, DC (http://www.broadwayworld.com/washington-dc/article/Eleasha-Gamble-Jack-Willis-More-Added-to-Arena-Stages-2015-16-Season-20150807) as well as being selected to perform at the US Open in August 2015.

Gainesville Ballet announces its 2015-16 season:  The Nutcracker with guest stars ISABELLA BOYLSTON and JAMES WHITESIDE, currently Principal Dancers with American Ballet Theatre; the world premiere of Carmen (a ballet suite based on the opera by Bizet); and the romantic ballet in two acts, Giselle.  The roster of Professional Company dancers is increasing to 10 international dancers from the US, Egypt, Nicaragua, and Japan, supported by the Junior Company of approximately 10 dancers.  Exact dates can be found on the EVENTS page.

Congratulations to Gainesville Ballet students on the following successes:  Sara Massei and Bella Reilly were accepted to Richmond Ballet’s summer intensive with scholarship; Chloe Banachoski was accepted to ABT Summer Intensive 2015; Rebecca Morneau was accepted to Radford Univerity’s summer intensive;  Caroline Beard was accepted to Radford University as a Dance Major; Jessie Shalvey was accepted to University of Virginia;  Abby Mumma danced with American Ballet Theater at the Kennedy Center in their performance of CINDERELLA; Casey McMahon was accepted to Interlochen Summer Music Festival with scholarship;  voice students of Managing Director Elysabeth Muscat won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at the NATS State and Regional Vocal Competitions;  her student Amanda Krew was accepted to Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, New England Conservatory, Hartt School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, Mannes College of Music, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and Cincinnati College Conservatory.

Gainesville Ballet is had an eventful 2014-15 season.  Superstar DANIIL SIMKIN  and NYC Ballet Principal ASHLEY BOUDER danced in the March 20 performance at the Hylton.  We  also presented the world premiere of Rafik Hegab’s CARMINA BURANA.  In November, NYC Ballet Principals Teresa Reichlen and Ask la Cour joined Gainesville Ballet for its Nutcracker performances at the Hylton.  Teresa Reichlen gave a master class to students in the summer.  In the summer of 2015, special guest AARON SMYTH of the Joffrey Ballet will be giving master classes in the Senior Ballet Intensive.

New York City Ballet Principal Dancers Teresa Reichlen and Ask la Cour guest starred in The Nutcracker with Gainesville Ballet on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.  Ms. Reichlen is also guest teaching in the summer intensive this July.

Congratulations to voice students Casey McMahon for being accepted to the Interlochen Center for the Arts Summer Camp for Voice, and to Burke Romans-Murray for winning first place in the Maryland-DC NATS Competition (National Association of Teachers of Singing) in both classical and musical theater categories.  Ms. Muscat’s other voice students have also accomplished the following:  Amanda Krew won 1st place at the NATS State Competition, and was accepted to Tanglewood, Interlochen, Walnut Hill School, and Brevard with a scholarship.  Walker Phillips won 1st place at the NATS State Competition AND the Mid-Atlantic Regional Competition and qualified to compete in the National Competition in 2014.

Gainesville Ballet’s Spring Performance was at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, Merchant Hall, on Saturday, June 7, 2014, 6:30 pm. Tickets will be available through the Hylton Box Office on March 1. Presenting excerpts from “Le Corsaire” and a student recital featuring dance and music (ballet, modern, jazz, character, hip hop, piano and voice.)

Gainesville Ballet performed at the Arts Alive! Festival at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, Merchant Hall, on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014, 10:00 – 10:30 am.

Gainesville Ballet debuted at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in November with The Nutcracker (“Clara and The Nutcracker Prince”) to a completely full house, featuring international guest stars, professional dancers, and students of Gainesville Ballet School in November 2013.

Nour Eldesouki (from the Aalto Ballet in Essen and former principal dancer with the Cairo, Dresden and Munich Ballet companies) gave a Master Class at Gainesville Ballet in December, 2013.

Gainesville Ballet had a completely sold out “Tea With Clara” at the Gainesville Ballet Studios in November. Young children from across the region enjoyed a performance of excerpts from The Nutcracker, mingling and greeting dancers in costume, and enjoying delicious food!

Congratulations to the following students: Sara Massei for high scores at the Youth America Grand Prix Competition, being invited to the NYC Intensive at the Finals this spring, and for being accepted to American Ballet Theater summer intensive; Bella Reilly for being accepted to American Ballet Theater summer intensive; Sara Massei and Abigail Mumma for being cast with American Ballet Theater when they performed Le Corsaire at The Kennedy Center in the spring of 2013.

Gainesville Ballet opened its brand new renovated space in September, 2013. Two large studios, spacious waiting areas, wi-fi access, live video stream from both studios into the waiting area, a music studio, and ample free parking, directly across from the Virginia Gateway Shopping Center in Gainesville.
