Sophia Dodd began her training at three years old with Gustafson Dance in Santa Barbara, CA. She then continued her instruction at The School of Ballet Arizona under the direction of Ib Anderson, Nancy Crowley, and Carlos Valcárcel. While still in high school Sophia returned to Santa Barbara and joined State Street Ballet as a Trainee in their Professional Track Program, under the direction of Rodney Gustafson and Megan Phillipp. Sophia was a founding member of U.S. International Ballet in Wilmington, NC under the direction of Walter Angelini and Ines Albertini. While in Wilmington, she danced numerous leading roles such as Sea Queen and Arabian Doll in The Great Wilmington Nutcracker, Lollipop lead in The Wizard of Oz, and the Summer Fairy in Cinderella. She also received the opportunity to train with The Martha Graham Dance Company. Other unique projects include modeling for Sansha Dancewear. Sophia is excited to begin her first season with Virginia National Ballet. Sophia will also be the Front Desk Assistant in the afternoons and on Saturdays!
